With summer fast approaching, the cleanliness of a workspace can often take a backseat. However, with warmer temperatures also comes the perfect environment for bacteria to thrive; meaning it’s just as important (if not more so) to stay on top of your office cleaning ritual, in order to maintain a healthy and productive workforce. With this in mind, we’ve rounded up some of our top tips for keeping your office clean during the summer months:
- Deodorise your bins
The heat can make bin odours particularly bad, which is the last thing you want when you spend most your day in the office! Sprinkling baking soda at the bottom of your bins can help keep odours to a minimum. Also try placing newspaper at the bottom of bin liners, which will help absorb liquids.
- Make dusting a priority
Dust builds up even more in summer, so it’s especially important to stay on top of dusting. At the end of every week, be sure to go around equipment such as keyboards and telephones, as well as the usual window seals and blinds.
- Go green
Hayfever and other allergies are often rife during the warmer months, so be mindful of the chemicals you’re using when cleaning a workspace. Opt for more natural products, which are free from common offenders such as petrochemicals, phosphates and synthetic fragrances.
- Clear out the office kitchen
Cluttered cupboards offer bacteria the perfect opportunity to spread, so be sure to clear out the office kitchen of any equipment you don’t use or old food, which is well past its storage date. Once you’ve done this, go round all the cupboards with an anti-bacterial spray and cloth, to really give the office kitchen a thorough clean.
- Hire a professional cleaning company
Alternatively, if you struggle to stay on top of the cleaning, hiring a professional cleaning company is the next best thing. Did you know LS Sukh specialise in commercial cleaning? To find out more about our services, click here.
